The seven short piano pieces in this collection were composed for seven young pianists in James Goldsworthy’s piano class, as part of Goldsworthy’s New Works for Young Pianists Commissioning Project. Each pianist chose a short story to inspire the music, and discussed strategies, with the composer, of creating the new work. The composer created the pieces, which were premiered in May 2007 in a regional church close to Princeton, New Jersey with the composer in attendance.
